Katarina began to skate at the age of five old. She was only five when her abilities became apparent and at the age of Karl-Marx-Stadt she was accepted into a school specifically for kids with athletic abilities. In this school, she got to know their coach Jutta Muller. Witt made her mark by finishing second in the 1982 World Championships, held in Copenhagen. The elegance and grace of Witt drew the attention of everyone and she has been a dominant figure skater ever since. Olympic success Katarina Wit was awarded gold medals in the women's ice skaters during Sarajevo Winter Games 1984. Sarajevo Winter Games 1984 after a fiercely competitive competition. She won a much closer contest four years later. Actually, she was not a winner in the contest for free skating, but she did win gold on the basis of performances during the compulsory figure and short program. Witt was the first woman to be a repeated winner of figure skating, following Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame Witt, who was a star in film acting, then returned to figure skating to compete at Lillehammer Winter Games 1994. The team finished seventh, but she wowed the crowd despite not winning the medal. Witt was named to the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame by the members of it in 1995.
